As a multifaceted quick-change artist and showman with a humorous personality, Reinhard Eberhart has inventively dominated the traditional carnival festival for more than a decade; endowed with a fool's licence under the guise of self-appointed director of carnival, he can fearlessly and disrespectfully criticize the far too powerful in subtle ways, having the laugh on his side; wounded vanity is in constant danger of being made look ridiculous; as publisher of the largest carnival magazine and as longstanding organiser of 'carnival waking', Reinhard Eberhard has developed a media presence whose sphere of influence politicians can't escape; that's why they all readily wear the fool's cap.
